Awards

It is one of the priorities of the CAOMS to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the CAOMS, the profession of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and/or their community. In this regard, the following two awards have been established to offer a mechanism to achieve such recognition:

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes CAOMS members who have made a major and significant current, past, or long-standing contribution of benefit to the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and/or the Association through clinical, academic, research, public service or Association related activities.

The Honorary Membership Award recognizes any individual who has made substantial and distinguished contribution to the advancement of the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, who has rendered valuable service to the Association, and such other deserving persons as may be determined by the Executive Council. Such individuals may be nominated for appointment as an Honorary Member of the Association by the Executive Council.

Nominate a Surgeon

In order to nominate an individual for either of the above two awards, please complete the Nomination Form and email it to caoms@caoms.com or fax/mail to the CAOMS secretariat.

The Al Swanson Award was created by the CAOMS to encourage the participation of students, residents-in-training and potential new members in the collective affairs of the profession at large.

Every year, an amount of $300.00 is awarded by the CAOMS to all first-year residents accepted in each of the six graduate OMS training programs in Canada.

The Al Swanson Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution and volunteer service of Dr. Alva Swanson to the CAOMS.
